How often should Replens Long-Lasting Vaginal Moisturizer be used?

For most women, Replens can be used every two to three days for the best results. However, Replens can be applied more or less frequently, as necessary. You can create the Replens routine that best serves your body, your needs and your lifestyle. Whether you experience dryness periodically or daily, Replens works with your body’s own moisturizing process to achieve the balance that is right for you.

How is Replens Long-Lasting Moisturizer different from a personal lubricant?

Replens is a true moisturizer, delivering continuous moisture for up to three days. This helps to rejuvenate vaginal lining, eliminate dry skin cells and, when used regularly, replenishes your natural vaginal moisture. In contrast, a personal lubricant is intended to provide temporary lubrication to reduce friction during sexual intercourse. Replens will make sexual intercourse more comfortable by restoring vaginal moisture, but many women choose to add extra lubrication during sexual activity. We recommend the use of Intimate Options Mousse for a sensual, non-messy lubricant that will complement your Replens Long-Lasting Vaginal Moisturizer usage.

What causes vaginal dryness?

Nearly every woman will experience vaginal dryness sometime in her life. It is most often associated with the normal decline or fluctuation of the female hormone estrogen. This fluctuation can be triggered by childbirth, breast-feeding, or menopause. Dryness can also be caused by taking certain medications, exercising intensively, or being under stress. It is also common to experience vaginal dryness when douching, using tampons, or at the end of the menstrual cycle. Whatever the cause, many women describe the feeling of vaginal dryness to include itching, burning, irriatation and painful intercourse.

* Note: If these symptoms do not go away or are accompanied by discharge, consult your physician as it could be the sign of a more serious condition. Replens is not intended to prevent or treat infections.

Can Replens be used along with a contraceptive cream or jelly?

Because the simultaneous use of two vaginal preparations would tend to be messy, it is recommended that Replens be applied several hours or a day before using a contraceptive cream or jelly.

Can Replens be used with a condom?

Yes. Replens is compatible with condoms.

Can Replens be used as birth control?

No. Replens does not contain spermicides. It is not a contraceptive.

Can Replens be used just before intercourse?

Replens works best when used on a regular schedule and not just prior to intercourse. Because Replens replenishes vaginal moisture, it provides lasting comfort both day and night, thus making intercourse more spontaneous. We recommend Intimate Options Mousse for use during intercourse.

Is it safe to have oral sex when using Replens?

Should I use Replens during my period?

No. It is best to resume use a couple of days after your flow completely stops.

I noticed a discharge after using Replens. What is it?

Some women may notice a residue after use of Replens–this is caused by the elimination of dead skin cells. Your body naturally sheds dry vaginal tissue that has built up over time. Replens helps this happen, leaving softer, more supple tissue behind. When used on a regular basis, Replens will prevent the build up of dead skin cells and the discharge should dissipate. If the discharge does not dissipate, you may wish to wait an extra day or two between applications. While use is recommended every two to three days, every woman is unique and you may wish to increase or decrease the amount of time between Replens applications to maximize moisture and minimize discharge.

When using the pre-filled applicator, how do I know I am depositing the right amount of Replens?

The pre-filled applicator is designed to deposit the recommended amount of moisturizer.  When used as directed, a small amount of moisturizer will remain in the applicator after use.  Discard this excess product along with the applicator.
